Battery Replacement

old battery 9 Nov 2010
This is the second time the old battery went flat on me. Well, can't really blame the battery since we have not even started the vehicle for a long time. The last time it was on the road was somewhere late July and now it has been 4 months since the engine was started.

Anyway since we bought this vehicle late 2009, we were not sure when was the battery replaced.

After scouting on the local internet for an ideal battery, it seems that this vehicle uses 95D31R NX120-7 type of battery which is 12V 80amp and not 12V 90amp that is stated in the service manual.

I decided to go against the odds and get the replacement. The replacement battery; Long is from Taiwan costing TWD2400 from 三多電池 in Kaohsiung, 790 Jiangkong Road (建工路). It comes with one year warranty on the battery.

Took out the old battery and cleaned the bay

Removed the mounting tray which was secured by 5 nos 10mm bolt

The battery tray needs a new coat of paint but it was not the right place and time to do it. Maybe next time

Under the old battery, there was a plastic tray that sits perfectly with the new battery

Found this connector but could not find the connection. Anyone likes to tell me?

New battery in placed but the connectors need replacement

Old battery specification

I am planning to use the old battery as an auxiliary back-up battery and BOV usage.

Lists below are my intentions for the Main and Auxiliary Batteries

  • engine running, it will charged Main and Auxiliary batteries
  • engine off, main and aux batteries will be isolated
  • main battery drain, aux battery will back up and start the engine
  • engine off, main battery isolated and aux battery use for BOV usage
I have ordered the battery isolator, should be here in next couple of days. Now just to have to draw up the schematic how the cables should ran.
